ABC announced yesterday that the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series has been renewed for Season 6, to air during the 2018-19 TV season.
The new season will consist of just 13 episodes and will air in to air at midseason, Summer 2019.
“What we’ve discovered is that we have a very loyal and passionate fan base for S.H.I.E.L.D. The show does incredibly well for us in delayed viewing,” ABC president Channing Dungey explained. “By putting it in the summer, we’re going to be able to ‘super-serve’ the fan base that loves that show and hopefully give it an opportunity to continue on longer than we would if it was [scheduled] in-season.”
Just last week, ABC cancelled Inhumans, the network’s other Marvel series.
Airing Fridays at 9:00 PM on ABC, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Ian De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Elizabeth Henstridge.
