Marvel Television has announced that Academy Award nominated actress Shohreh Aghdashloo has a role in “Marvel’s The Punisher.”
Aghdashloo will play Farah Madini on the upcoming Netflix series. Farah is an Iranian by birth who has lived most of her life in the US, establishing a successful practice as a psychiatrist, while her daughter, Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah), is a skilled Homeland Security agent.
This is the second time Aghdashloo and Revah have played mother and daughter – they previously worked together in 2009’s “House of Saddam,” which Aghdashloo won an Emmy for. That project also teamed them with producer Steve Lightfoot, who is now serving as showrunner on “Marvel’s The Punisher.” Aghdashloo was nominated for an Oscar for “House of Sand and Fog,” while her other credits include “24,” “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “The Expanse.”
Lightfoot (“Hannibal”) wrote the series’ first two episodes in addition to serving as showrunner and Executive Producer. Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” and “Marvel’s Luke Cage”) will also serve as Executive Producer along with Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” and “Marvel’s Luke Cage”), Marvel’s Head of Television.
“Marvel’s The Punisher” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. The series will debut later in 2017.
