Today at TCA16, Netflix has announced that Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been renewed for a Second Season, containing 13 episodes.

Jessica Jones is currently streaming its first season on Netflix and is one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade.

During the TCA16 today Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos told that the new season won’t debut until the upcoming Marvel’s The Defenders wraps up its first season.

“The complex [part] is really running into The Defenders. [That] production schedule will affect a lot of the Season 2 and Season 3 outputs [for other Marvel projects].” said Ted Sarandos.



In Marvel’s Jessica Jones, After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a private investigator in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones is starring Critics’ Choice Award nominee Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and is joined by the amazing cast including David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, among others.

The series is executive produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, Dexter) and Liz Friedman (Elementary), along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Daredevil, Lost, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
